Dear Canossians,
Greetings from the Canossian Alumni Executive Committee 2008/2009!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in journeying with us. Despite coming from different batches from 1947 across to 2004, we are 'united in common endeavour' and continue to focus on connecting Canossian generations: past, present and future. It has been 4-5 months since the Canossian Alumni Homecoming Dinner - Viva Verona 2009. Our heartfelt thanks to Canossians who willingly came forward to offer help in the preparations. Not forgetting the Canossian United (Facebook) group that painstakingly put together the 'SK Quah Run for Fun(d)' in Jan 2009. Mr Quah would have been smiling at us from the heavens above that day. In May 2009, the alumni continued the annual tradition (since SACSS days) of visiting the elderly at St Joseph's Home. These significant events continue to remind us of the timeless qualities that Canossians share - the Way we walk with heads held high, the Truth we seek and the Life we live in charity and humility. Indeed, Via Veritas Vita!
May we invite you to continue embracing these qualities that have served us well in the past 200 years. Our ExCo members Magdalene and Amy had the wonderful opportunity to join the Canossian Educators' Learning journey to Italy this June. It was a meaningful journey as they visited the Canossian roots in Verona (Canossa Palace, St. Joseph's Convent - the Canossian Mother House and the site of the first school started in 1808) and other stops in Milan, Schio (the Convent where St. Bahkita lived and served) and to Rome where the Canossian International Centre is located today. This learning journey is conducted every 1-2 years in June for the staff of our Canossian schools, kindergartens and homes and all Canossian Alumni members are welcome to join.
We also want to thank the principals of the three Canossian schools (CCPS, SACPS and SACSS) for embracing the Canossian Alumni as an important contributor to the Canossian family. We have reviewed the award structure of each school and the alumni continue to sponsor cash prizes for the pinnacle awards (St. Magdalene's award and St. Bahkita's award) and the bursary fund (St. Magdalene Fund) in all three schools. In 2009, we are pleased to inform you that we would launch a Canossian Affiliation Award which would be awarded to the P6 pupil who has obtained the highest PSLE score (minimum cut-off point is 235) and has opted for SACSS as the first choice in the secondary school selection.
We urge you as members of the Canossian Alumni Association to join us at the upcoming 32nd AGM that will be held in Canossa Convent Primary School on 5 September 2009. Canossian Alumni is yours as much as it is ours. Whilst we are still a small community in Singapore, we are filled with joy when we meet Canossians here and abroad. We are the Singapore legacy of St. Magdalene of Canossa and part of a broader Canossian network across 35 countries. Do join us and may we be re-connected again in the Spirit of Canossa as we work together to bring the Canossian Alumni to the next level.
God Bless
Sylvia, Hilda, Beng Choo, Agnes, Seok Hwee, Magdalene, Ed-Linddi, Sharon, Belinda, Amy, Sr Janet
